Woods Hole Golf Club organized by Henry H. Fay and others in 1898; land was leased from the Fay family until 1916 when the club purchased it outright. A clubhouse was built in the early 1920s and with extensive renovations is still in use. In 1929 the club founded a caddy camp which became one of the best in the U.S. At first the boys attending were housed in tents but later cabins were built.
